(THE VOICE OF THE WATCHMAN)

WORK IS ORDAINED OF GOD FOR ALL HIS PEOPLE

CHAPTER 1
This short exhortation is informed by the fact that a good number of ministers of the Gospel of Christ, have refused to work with the pretext that they are on full time ministries.
2.            Many people, out of sheer ignorance of the Holy Scriptures, do not see anything bad in it at all.
3.            If you believe that the Bible is good for doctrine, for reproof, for correction in righteousness, so that a man of God will be thoroughly furnished for every good work, it will be very useful then to know what the Holy Bible says on this all important matter.
4.            "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Tim 3:16-17, KJV).
5.            The first man God created according to the Holy Bible was Adam. God did not encourage him to be lazy or slothful or indolent in the Garden of Eden, instead gave him work to do so as to earn his living.
6.            Adam was to work with his hands and not expect food from where he did not labour.
7.            “And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it." (Gen. 2:15, KJV).
8.            The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden as its gardener, to tend and care for it." (Gen. 2:15, LB).
9.            "Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. (Gen. 3:23, KJV).
10.         “So the Lord God banished him forever from the Garden of Eden, and sent him out to farm the ground from which he had been taken." (Gen. 3:23, LB).
11.         In the beginning, Adam was commanded to tend the garden. He was a gardener by occupation. When he fell from the original position, God commanded him to till the land, farm it so as to earn his living. In other words, he became a farmer.
12.         Whether tending the garden or tilling the ground, Adam worked with his hands so as to earn a living.
13.         Abraham was a very rich farmer and also a shepherd. Lot was a shepherd. Moses was a shepherd and the same was applicable to David and many other men of God in the Old Testament.
14.         Since the matter is being discussed in the light of the New Testament Christian faith, let me concern myself with the Christian Era; that is, our own era.
15.         Children of God are those who follow the teachings, doctrines, lifestyle of Christ and His chosen Apostles.
16.         Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Heb. 12:2, KJV).
17.         Every true child of God must follow Christ and the commandments of His Apostles and Prophets.
18.         That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Savior.” (2Pet. 3:2,KJV).
19.         Let us at this point examine the records about Jesus Christ as far as work is concerned.
20.         “But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.” (John 5:17,KJV).
21.         And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him. And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
22.         Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at Him.” (Mark 6:1-3, KJV).
23.         “Soon afterwards He left that section of the country and returned with His disciples to Nazareth, His hometown. The next Sabbath He went to the synagogue to teach, and the people were astonished at His wisdom and His miracles because He was a local man like themselves. ‘He’s no better than we are,’ they said.
24.         ‘He’s just a Carpenter, Mary’s boy, and a brother of James and Jose ph, Judas and Simon. And His sisters live right here among us.’ And they were offended!” (Mark 6:1-3, LB).
25.         From the above scriptures, one can see that Jesus Christ was a Carpenter by occupation.
26.         His father, whether earthly or heavenly works. Joseph His earthly father was a Carpenter by occupation. If a son learns his father’s trade or occupation or business, is it a crime?
27.         Is there anybody who does not agree with me that Christ was and is still the greatest Evangelist or minister of the gospel?
28.         There is time for everything under heaven. There is a time for work and time for preaching.
29.         “To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven” (Ecc. 3:1, KJV).
30.         Nobody today can claim to be on full time preaching or ministry more that the Lord Jesus Christ and yet He did not go about duping His followers.
31.         Now let us read more Bible passages for clearer understanding of what I am saying by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
32.         I am going to make use of the Living Bible Translation, which everybody can easily read and understand even without using a dictionary.
33.         “This should be your ambition: to live a quiet life, minding your own business and doing your own work, just as we told you before. As a result, people who are not Christians will trust and respect you, and you will not need to depend on others for enough money to pay your bills.” (1 Thess. 4:11-12, LB).
34.         Is there anybody who calls himself a Christian today who was alive when this instruction was given in the Bible?
35.         Is there anybody who calls himself a Christian, who is exempted by this passage because of his position in the Church?
36.         How many so-called men of God today are not depending on their members to get enough money to pay their bills and even to eat?
37.         Truly speaking, some, if not all of them, are a burden to the Church or some affluent individuals in the Church.
38.         As a result of disobeying this passage of the Bible, they have introduced unconventional and unscriptural ways of making money from their members promising them that God will bless them for taking good care of their ministers.
39.         “NOW here is a command, dear brothers, given in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ by His authority: stay away from any Christian who spends his days in laziness and does not follow the ideal of hard work we set for you.
40.         For you well know that you ought to follow our example: you never san’ us loafing; we never accepted food front anyone without buying it; we worked hard day and night for the money we needed to live on, in other that we would not he a burden to any of you.
41.         It wasn’t that we didn’t have the right to ask you to feed us, but we wanted to show you firsthand how you should work for your living. Even while we were still there with you, we gave you this rule: ‘He who does not work shall not eat.’
42.         Yet we hear that some of you are living in laziness, refusing to work, and wasting your time in gossiping. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we appeal to such people — we command them — to quiet down, get to work, and earn their own living.” (2 Thess. 3:6-12, LB).
43.         Notice that the above command was given to all Christians irrespective of their callings in the body of Christ, which is the Church, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ by His authority.
44.         Whoever that disobeys this command has disobeyed the Lord Jesus Christ.
45.         The instruction says that you should stay away from any Christian or man of God who does not follow the ideal of hard work, which was set for us.
46.         The reverse has become the case, people follow such people thinking that they are pleasing God. Nobody can please God in disobedience.

CHAPTER 2
And now I entrust you to God and his care and to his wonderful words that are able to build your faith and give you all the inheritance of those who are set apart for himself.
2.                 I have never been hungry for money or fine clothing-- 34 you know that these hands of mine worked to pay my own way and even to supply the needs of those who were with me. 35 And I was a constant example to you in helping the poor; for I remembered the words of the Lord Jesus, `It is more blessed to give than to receive.”Acts 20:32-35 (LB).
3.            Apostle Paul was a constant example to all ministers in helping the poor because he never ceased from working. He remembered the scripture that said it is more blessed to give than to receive.
4.            Today, what do you withess or notice among the so-called men of God? Each time they quote “it is more blessed to give than to receive,” you know they are receiving from the converts.
5.            Is it a crime if they give to the poor people in their Churches and allow the blessing to come to them?
6.            These smart full-time extortionists, preachers have a smart way of twisting the real meaning of Bible passages for selfish gains and people ignorantly take them serious.
7.            Often times you hear them quoting, “give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed and shaken and running over,” and they will tell you nonexistent and fantastic stories around it to win the approval of the hearers.
8.            “Give, and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” (Luke 6:38, KJV).
9.            The Lord Jesus Christ never practiced this style of preaching and His Apostles never practiced it also.
10.         Where then did these mad egoistic and sentimental preachers of our day learn this act? The answer is America.
11.         Yes, polluted, perverted and psychedelic Pentecostalism is of American origin.
12.         That is where gospel preachers are billionaires, own finance houses, schools, colleges, and universities and erect cathedrals with money they duped from their ignorant members. Some of them own aeroplanes. Believe it if you can.
13.         Then Paul left Athens and went to Corinth. There he became acquainted with a Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, who had recently arrived from Italy with his wife, Priscilla. They had been expelled from Italy as a result of Claudius Caesar's order to deport all Jews from Rome. Paul lived and worked with them, for they were tentmakers just as he was.” (Acts. 18:1-3, LB).
14.         Apostle Paul in spite of all his education as a professional lawyer, became a tent maker by occupation to earn his living.
15.         If any preacher will say that he is on full-time ministry today, can he be on full-time ministry more than Apostle Paul?
16.         Did his preaching ministry stop him from his occupation from where he was earning hs living?
17.         17 “Usually a person should keep on with the work he was doing when God called him.” (Cor. 7:20, LB).
18.         Today we see people abandoning their jobs, trades, businesses and even schools and carry the Bible about pretending that God called them on full-time ministry.
19.         How can God call man contrary to His Word or instruction? The truth of the matter is that many people have noticed that to carry the Bible is the easiest way of making money unsuspectedly.
20.         This is why we see the emergence of commercial preachers in all the commercial cities in Nigeria and beyond.
21.         21 These devilish commercial preachers charge money from traders for their preaching, some of them charge fantastic amount of money from ignorant and innocent people claiming that they have the powers to remove curses and break covenants.
22.         This is a religious 419 and must be resisted by all truth loving people of God even with our last blood.
